A group of researchers claims to have developed a novel method of evaluating Covid using a smartphone's camera. It's usually employed in laboratories, but some of the most widely available and affordable gadgets, as well as an initial experiment with a novel means of diagnosing covid using your own smartphone, suggest it's just as effective as the PCR test.

The method of employing smartphones in the Covid test was devised by researchers at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In a recent research article published in the JAMA Network Open, they elaborated on this. According to several media sources, the new Covid test method will be useful for persons undergoing the PCR test at a cost of $8, who live in a rural place or live alone away from the population.
According to Senate, the Covid test is simple to do using this method. To begin, you must first download the researchers' smartphone software, 'Backticount.' Then you must place your phone on a 'hot plate,' which is commonly used in laboratories. The phone's back camera will be located at the bottom. Then you must spit into the test kit that has been placed on the 'hot plate.' After that, if you put a'reactive solution' in it, the viral RNA will appear in the phone's camera, and you'll need to open the app.
When the'reactive solution' comes into contact with the virus, it changes color and turns brilliant red. And the app will calculate the virus's presence based on how quickly the color changes.
Smartlamp is the term given to this technology by researchers. According to the Senate, this test kit is inexpensive and simple to use. Researchers believe this is a cost-effective and reliable technique to detect covidosis in low- and middle-income countries without relying on complex and expensive technology capabilities.
Although exploratory research has yielded promising results, the technology is not yet suitable for wider application. The initial study only included 50 people, and the smartphone app is presently only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S9's camera. To acquire acceptability, this technique must go through more complex scientific trials.
